Star Wars was ok, I saw it first run. It could never really draw me in like ST.

I like some of the Highlander stuff, the first movie and the first few seasons of the TV show.

I was thinking Peter Jackson. I'm also not sure how you'd create a move about a massive cylindrical spaceship without CGI.

Don't believe the modules were even in the book at all. I am a big Dune fan and I really didn't like the old film much. The new ones were better.

The new ones are better, I think, particularly Children of Dune. In Dune, I can't get past the campy Batman-esque filming of Harkkonen where they tilt the camera and show the bad guys in red lighting.

I remember only bits and pieces from children of Dune but what I do remember is the costume design was total B-movie-esque. Yes original Dune had it's faults but the costume
design was awesome.

That is true, the original had MUCH better costumes. But Children of Dune was a budget film, so budget costumes.

I swear, special effects have gotten worse and worse over the years the more these dweebs have depended on computers.

while I agree with you if they take the time/effort to do it the way Avatar did it can look amazing. LOTR also had great use of it

Other good sci-fi movies would be Soldier, Fifth Element and Cronicles of Riddick/Pitch Black.
