Best Sci Fi dvd set?

Babylon 5 season 1-4, but start with the movies "In the Beginngi" & "The Gathering" to set it up. Epic multi-year story arc inspired by classic space opera like E.E. "Doc" Smith's Lensmen series.

Stargate SG-1 seasons 1-5. Don't let the first few episodes of season 1 stop you it gets much better very quickly. Excellent mutli-year continuity and developing universe.

Farscape. Great progression of the lead character from semi-wimp scientist to galactic badass.

Babylon 5, hands down. However, Farscape is awesome, too. I just watched The Peacekeeper Wars last night, and it was a great finish to the series. Hopefully we'll see more in the future.

me and my wife saw the whole damn thing in like 3 weeks. totally awesome!

we're on st: TNG season 2 now.

I never tried SG-1 because it looked really lame, but I think i'll give it a shot.

i used to like farscape until it turned into a big sex romp with sluts everywhere. I mean, sluts are great, but come on there's enough of that on non sci-fi stuff... of course I stopped watching it, so I don't know if it stayed on that path...

Are you watching the same Farscape that I am? Sex romp? Where? How did I miss that?

i don't remember it was so long ago. but I remember watching this show from the very beginning, and I was really into it. then after a few weeks (months?) they were always finding ways to involve naked and/or slutty chicks that did nothing other than present an excuse to show naked and/or slutty chicks on the screen. am I wrong? i swear i remember this and I was really upset so I quit watching.

You were probably watching Lexx, which does have nekkid chicks. (See the "Boomtown" episode, uncut!)

Lexx, if you can get past the silliness, shows flashes of brilliance in the storytelling.

They implied that when Talia's alternate personality was triggered, but outside of that one conversation it was never shown or discussed.

That was my thought too. The season 1 / first four movies was brilliant in spots like in the hybrid organic-electronic technology from the insect-human wars.

There was something there, but they never went anywhere with it. In a later episode, as part of a ritual each member of the senior staff had to admit to something personal to Delenn, and Ivanova admitted that she "loved" Talia.

Interesting.

In season 2 (maybe 1), Talia's repeated presence in Ivanova's quarters in the morning before Ivanova's shift started signified they had become lovers.
