I like the scene when they are attacking Foy and Speirs takes over Easy. He runs across the city through the German lines to link up with other troops and then runs all the way back without getting hit. Now that is leadership.

Episode 7, The Breaking Point
I love this episode where spears relieves that grappy CO, the tank fires on him, and he jumps through the shell impact, haha. And then runs through to link up and runs back.. classic

Amazing scene. Spears was an intense character. His speech about accepting yourself as already dead to function as a soldier was pretty interesting. I had my jaw open while he was doing that run.

Have to say that's a fave too. I also really like how the last episode starts with Winters swimming in the beautiful lake in Austria. It's such a peaceful contrast to the previous episodes. Anyone who has been to such a place in Austria, knows how majestic it can be.

Bastogne was probably the most interesting to me, because my grandfather was on a mortar crew in the Battle of the Bulge. He doesn't talk about it much at all to this day.

I can honestly say that every single second of that series had me stuck to my seat. I loved every part of every episode and it was just incredible. However, my roommate watched it first, and started without me. While he was watching it one night, I decided to see what it was all about. I just happened to pick the scene where they first enter the concentration camps. I was completely and utterly moved.

The very next day, PETA was releasing their new ad campaign comparing the slaughter of cows to the holocaust. That is why I hate PETA, and I will always hold that scene above all others, even though it seems cliche.

Kudos to all who had anything to do with that, and especially to Damian Lewis who was just INCREDIBLE!

The whole series was awesome. I personally never really appreciated our WWII veterans until I saw this dramtization. All that was showed in the series is the day in and day out grind of life in a war that books in schools don't tech you about. I truly have a new found apprreciation and admiration for all vets. I would like to go and see the new WWII memorial that was opened I believe yesterday. The series hit me in a deep way and I wrote a letter to the real Dick Winters and Bill Guarnere. They were even kind enough to wite back. Did you all know that they are in production right now for a second BOB based in the Pacific theater? Hanks and Spielberg are doing again as well so it should be great! Here is a couple of links to sights dedicated to BOB. Great sites!!!

Well, I don't mean to know whether or not he truly went blind, but if he actually reported going blind. I just wanted to know if that part of the movie was based on a true account.

However, from what I have read, he didn't die in 1948 as Band of Brothers reported. In fact, he died in 1967. Seems like a big mistake for Stephen Ambrose to make, though...

I'll look at the end of the BOB book tonight and see what it says about him.

CrossRoads, where Winters rushes 2 companies of SS by himself. Really happend

Why we fight. where they are in convoy cruising down the Autobahn and 300K german troops are marching in formation going the other way. And winters says to Dicks, "look at them, even in defeat they still march with pride" Then it shows a wagon full of German officers and they are amazed at the massive amount of military hardware they are seeing and the trooper in the back of the Duce stands up and says " Yea thats right, Ford, GM, Chrysler, what were you thinking!!!"

And the last show where they show the speach from the German Colonel to his troops that just surrendered out of the Austrian Alps. Very powerful...

The Pacific theater film/miniseries IS happening, based on the book "Flags of Our Fathers" by James Bradley

don't remember the scene name, but I loved the part where they were all dug in , in the forest, middle of winter, when they were getting shelled really bad, and no one could find the one medic anywhere.

Not my favorite, but one that sticks out in my mind....

I think it was at the end of Episode 7 (The Breaking Point), once the 101st had taken Foy. There was a sniper in a elevated position overlooking the town. Lipton told Shifty Powers not to miss, and then he ran out in the open to get the attention of the sniper. Lipton's out there zig-zagging, trying not to get hit, while Shifty takes out the sniper with a single shot.

those fan sites have some pretty good stuff. I read one a while back that had the obligatory "you know you're watching BoB too much when" threads--my favorite was "you tell your kids to go to bed and say you want 'light and noise discipline' " :)

Day of Days
when they are in the plane getting ready to jump, AA shells are going off all around them, and planes are crashing left and right. MOHAA Spearhead has basically this same scene and it's my favorite part of all the MOH series.

Bastogne (I think)
Laying in a foxhole while shells are landing all around you, knocking trees down and blowing the legs off the guy in the foxhole next to yours, while there is nothing you can do but sit and pray.

I thought those two scenes were the most intense.

I know I'm going to butcher these quotes and I can't remember who it was or which episode, but the funniest scene was when they are walking through a forest later and one of them says something like "hey, this kinda reminds me of bastogne" and the other guy says something like "yeah, except we aren't freezing to death and the trees aren't exploding."

too many good scenes to have a favorite, but one little line that stands out in my mind is the scene where a veteran explains to the soldier freaking out in the foxhole how to overcome his fear of death.

Something like:

"the only hope you have is to accept the fact that your already dead, the sooner you accept that , the sooner you'll be able to function as a soldier supose to function without mercy, without compassion. without remorse. all war depends on it."

also found this version:

[Lt. Speirs explains to Pvt. Blithe how to cope with fear]
Ronald Speirs: "We're all scared. You hid in that ditch because you think there's still hope. But Blithe, the only hope you have is to accept the fact that you're already dead. And the sooner you accept that, the sooner you'll be able to function as a soldier is supposed to function. Without mercy. Without compassion. Without remorse. All war depends on it."

Yeah, I think that the part of Episode 9 (Why We Fight) right before the group walking through the forest found the concentration camp.

I think one of my favorites is when Sobel is leading that training mission in England and they are lost as usual and he can't figure out why there are fences and cows. Luz then gets talked into impersonating Major Horton and gets Sobel to cut the fence. One of the funniest scenes. Also, when Luz quotes Major Horton, "Flies spread disease, so keep yours closed!"

Too many great moments. I really loved winters in the movie. If it counts, the best scene was in the documentary when they finally interview him. The other part worth mentioning was the finding of the concentration camp (why we fight). That stuck with me in that it made me think about how many people didn't have a clue about them at the time.

All in all, the interviews really elevated BoB from good or great to a true masterpiece in my mind.

I don't know if I'd call it my favorite, but absolutely the most moving scene was when Captain Winters (maybe he was a LT at the time) was leading the charge on a group of SS soldiers. He stands up from behind the trench, alone, and comes face to face with a German boy who looked to be not more than 17 years old. The way the scene is shot, completely silent, focusing on the expressions of each character, you almost go through the exact thought process in your own head that each of them is going through. The boy, first noticing Winters, has a look of unrecognition on his face, almost a smile, which turns into a frown as he comes to the realization that he is about to die. His young life is about to end, and he can do nothing but wait for it. You can feel him waiting to die. You can also follow the thought process of Winters as he notices the youth of the boy. He understands exactly what is going through the boy's head. He realizes that this is a living human being, and not just a faceless enemy. You can almost feel him force himself to pull the trigger and take this life. This is the first moment that Winters, and the audience, first gains a full appreciation for what he is doing every time he pulls the trigger.

Captain Winters later has flashbacks of this very moment when he's on leave in Paris.

When Spears runs though the village to take out the artillery at the Bulge. Awesome. I forget which episode that was.
