There was an email response from Sirius regarding the censored stations in the big censorship thread (see my last post above).

Apparently, the censored stations are:

Faction // Channel 28, Alt Nation // Channel 21, First Wave // Channel 22, and Hot Jamz // Channel 50.

The uncensored stations are:

Shade 45 // Channel 45 and Octane // Channel 20.

This sucks....

Driving to work this morning the music was not yet censored on 28, so it hasn't been put into full force yet. Hopefully the powers that be will discover the error in their plan and change their minds, but to the customer considering sirius, I would let this play out before buying any equipment.

I don't know what this would do to Bam's show or Jason Ellis.

Have you noticed any censoring, vi? According to some of those posts, the censorship started around 8/10/05. I've mainly listened to sports talk the past week, so I haven't noticed any song edits.

None that I can really *think* of. I just heard a song on faction the other day with Mike Jones and the Ying Yang twins. That most certainly wasn't censored. 😛

I can't think of any songs on Hard Attack (27) that were censored. I do remember Tom Rock making a comment in passing that he had to get a lot of F-Bombs out of his system. Makes sense now.

But this really blows. What about Raw Dog? They censoring that *TOO*?

So far the deal with Sprint is only for music, so it looks like the talk/comedy channels are safe...for now.

Sprint is considering adding channels including rock, hip-hop and soul to complement customers' phone service. That may help bolster revenue for data services and raise monthly bills for Sprint.

XM subscriber here. Made the mistake of buying a 2 year agreement when I purchased my Acura. Started off liking the service just fine, then about 8 months ago I noticed a significant drop off in the sound quality of the stations I listen to. Squizz, XMU, and Fungus sound worse than 64bit encoded MP3's. I really don't care how deep the playlist is if it sounds like crap. Once my contract is up, they can blow.

Well, you guys made my decision pretty easy. I need to have live football to listen to, so I guess I'll go with Sirius.

Thanks. 🙂
