Best sandwich that you have ever had

For me, having spent the majority of my life in PA it comes down to a tough choice. There is a certain sense of loyalty towards the Philly Cheese Steak. But then I come to my senses and realize that no eastern PA loyalty need be felt seeing how I was from Pittsburgh.

So, with that being said, I bring you the food of the gods.....

The one and only Primanti Bros. Sandwich.

My recommendation is the corned beef!

i used to go to a little dive lunch place back before i had kids (13 yrs ago and more) that had a croissant with turkey, bacon, cheese, tomato, avocado and sprouts on it. they had their own "mayo sauce" they out on it. the place has been closed for years and i cant seem to find a place that makes one as good. it is my all time fave sammich.

Recently, one of the most unique (and delicious) sandwiches I've had is from Uncle Sammy's. It's called the Pilgrim. Ingredients: Oven roasted turkey breast, Raisin herb stuffing, Cranberry sauce, and Mayo. It's like Thanksgiving packed into a sandwich. Other deliciousness includes the Italian from Potbelly (with hot giardenera), and the Bacon Turkey Bravo from Panera.

Smoked Ham from Potbelly is win - their mustard is awesome.

One of the best I've had is my step-dad's moms italian roast beef with swiss ... god that stuff is awesome.

I'll be the elitist pig: http://www.danielnyc.com/recipes/dbburger.html

The DB Burger is composed of an exterior of ground sirloin with a filling of boned short ribs braised in red wine, foie gras, black truffle and a mirepoix of root vegetables. The homemade bun is topped with toasted parmesan and layered with fresh horseradish mayonnaise, tomato confit, fresh tomato and frisée lettuce.

2nd place: sausage egg n cheese McGriddle!

The Western Bacon Blue Ring from Taylor's Automatic Refresher. Picture here: http://photo.xanga.com/gastron...e3134598181/photo.html

It's a burger though, not just a regular sammich. For a regular sammich I'd have to just go with my homemade BLT: Tonnes of crispy, thick-cut bacon, lightly toasted bread, real mayo, vine-ripened tomatoes, leaf lettuce, lots of pepper, and extra bacon grease poured over the tomatoes, which soaks into the bread. Oh god, so hungry now.

The best sandwich always consists of the leftovers after Thanksgiving. Of course the food is down right delicious if cooked right, but it has a lot to do with just laying about the house after a long day & finally getting to appreciate everything. 🙂

There was this place down the street that made a grilled rueben with at least 3/4 lb of corned beef, then topped it with provolone cheese, purple cole slaw, and a special home made Russian dressing. It was the best sandwich ever.

Then some middle eastern guy bought him out and started making these awful gyros. They closed two months ago 🙁

I count a burger as it's own food "type". It's a separate category from sammiches.

Probably the best sandwich I've had was at a German beerhaus in Moline IL. It was the most perfect french dip sub I've ever had. Roast beef was perfectly marinaded and tender. The hoagie bun was grilled with the garlic, butter and onions, the swiss cheese was melted perfectly and the dip was just the right viscosity between liquid and gravy so that stuck to the sandwich without being too thick.

Edit: they actually have it online:

There's an Irish pub here in Peoria that makes a great roast beef sandwich with a guinness and crushed red pepper marinade that is great too, but you don't get a dipping sauce with it.

Bari's in chicago off Grand Ave. Google it. No joke, get the italian and it melts in your mouth, you cant sit down, its an italian deli, but oh my god- never has a sandwich done to me what Bari's did...

Steak tacos al carbon with chiuaua cheese, cilantro, onions, and salsa from La Palapita, N. Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL, or from Mixtec, two locations in Washington DC. Real D.F. tacos al carbon! A taco with anything else is not a taco, and aside from these three restaurants tacos are only available in Mexico City.

Loretta from Sarkis, Wilmette, IL.

Disaster from Sarkis, Wilmette, IL.

Debris, from Mothers, New Orleans, LA.

Crawfish po boy, Mothers, New Orleans, LA.

Turkey grinder from Philly's Best on Belmont in Chicago, or from Napolitana, Palatine, IL.

Steak and cheese with onions and sport peppers from Penn Station, Cincinnati, OH. Also, the best french fries in the free world!

Pastrami on dark rye from Kaufman's Sinai 48 deli, many locations, Chicago, IL.

Lox and Bagel sandwich with chive cream cheese, New York Bagel and Biali, Northbrook, IL.

Bari's is excellent.

I forgot Burgers. The best tasting burger IMNSHO, is at Charlie Beinlich's, Skokie Blvd, Northbrook, IL, but the best hamburger place is without a doubt, The Weiner's Circle, N. Clark St, Chicago, IL. Maybe it's because it's such a sad dirty little dive staffed by humongous black women that demand you refer to them as "Bitches", and will occasionally flash their tits. It doesn't hurt that the place is open all hours, and also boasts some of the best fries, dogs, and other sandwiches available.

There's this little hole in the wall market on the outskirts of downtown Ft. Lauderdale called My Market that makes the best damn subs ever.

It's like $13 for a foot long sub but it's huge and sooooo good.

Something about the mayo, cheese and bread they use.

They use Boar's Head meats also.

Any deli, pizza place or bagelry outside NY with NY in its name is blasphemous and must be destroyed.
