I was and still am a HUGE fan of Starcraft. Lately I was absorbed so much by the fantastic FPS titles and I'm a little off from RTS.
I would like a SERIOUS recommendation for a futuristic RTS like Starcraft was (sci-fi/space related with good GFX if possible). So any recommendations would be more than welcome

Total Annihilation is my all time fav RTS. That game was SO ahead of its times, its amazing. True 3D terrain, good physics, interesting weapons/units, balanced, etc. In my opinion, Starcraft was nothing more than Warcraft with candy graphics. Try TA. I still play it to this day. And its been out 9 years.

Err, the guys on my hall also liked Red Alert. Or if you want a RPG/RTS lovechild, try Warcraft 3.

Yeah I know about this great game and I have played it .
The fact is that I would like it more like Starcraft with space story(if indeed there's one out there)
So? Also what about W40K : DOW?

So do u think that it worths the $$$? I know it's a futuristic title but you know... Up till now nothing beated Starcraft in my eyes....
I want the game to be space related not to be characterized futuristic just because it's originated sometime in the future...

TA looks like a game that is compatible with my tastes but it's a little bit old...
As far as concerns W3 it's a great game with very good gfx but not so close to my tastes.
Anyone else?

Ahh good ol Total Annihilation!! I used to play it ALL the time. So many units and such good graphics/game play for its time. Flash tank rush on full moon = owned. Gods of War was a good map too.

Starcraft is older
nothing else really fits the bill... nobody builds RTS games like SC and TA anymore becuase they ARE OLD.

C&C generals isn't exactly futuristic, but it's not fantasy style like wc3, and it's better than starcraft.

Can never match SC.
True, it's better.

If they had made starcraft 2 and left warcraft behind like they should have, then we'd have a much better game. Starcraft > warcraft. Heck, I bet a World of Starcraft would have been slightly better than WoW.

You know what, you could try LOTR: Battle for middle earth. Granted its not as great as SC or WC, its still a decent game.... I mean admit it, RTS games aren't exactly the hottest genre right now and the ones that have come out in recent times aren't that great... however, LOTR:BfME holds its own.

Yeah I know I've finished it :D

As far as concerns SCI I'll say it again. Nothing beated it in my eyes.(Except as I said Fallout 1,2 but these aren't RTS/PRG they are turn based. Fantastic though.

Who knows I might try W40K:Warhammer

Possibly but it's far more difficult to make a sci-fi mmo work than a fantasy one. They'll make a starcraft 2, i have little doubt about that. Same for Diablo 3. Though it might be a while with all the effort being poured into WoW (not that we've seen much of that...)

TA came out before starcraft and is singificantly better. The main area that SC was better was in the online play systems. TA is still unmatched in what it offered - the ability to get a full scale machine of war that required ZERO micromanagement until your mining resources were depleted. Unlimited group size, auto-queueing units into a group before they were created, unlimited builder queues, etc.

After playing TA, Starcraft was Starcrap. Severely limited group sizes and ridiculous amounts of micromanagement. If it weren't for the cool units, I would have stopped playing within 30 minutes.

I never could like Warcraft 3. The hero units ruined it for me. Generals has way too many issues, many of them performance issues, and absolutely no support from EA.

Your best bet is Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War. It doesn't follow the same economic model of Starcraft but still very good and easily better than Generals.
