Absolutely no character depth whatsoever. I really enjoyed it as an action-hack'n'slash game ala Diablo, but a great RPG it is not. Even the story itself was only "ok" IMHO.
🙂 It was fun to play, you had a character, and it had some sort of story line with quests and stuff. That is all I need for an RPG. While the storyline might have not been the best thing in the world, it was fun to play. That, to me, is more important then how RPGy a game is.

But, that is me. I'm others, such as yourself, have differing opinions on what makes a good RPG (or an RPG in general).

times of lore for the c=64 ... j/k

for me i would have to go with FF or Dragon Warrior on the NES... those were the games that got me into RPGs.

for modern favs i'd have to say KOTOR or Fallout 3.

FF6 or Chrono Trigger

i cant decide

Diablo 2 would be my choice overall. The thing that helps it out is the ability to play it over and over and over trying to find things. I loved killing bosses again and again. I also love playing solo, not requiring to play in a party.

After Diablo 2 in order:
Final Fantasy 6
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy 4
