Best router?

I am trying to figure out which router I should buy to replace my ageing Dlink DIR-655. I have looked at a few Asus Routers RT-N56U and the RT-N66U as well as the linksys e4200 and the Trendnet TEW-692. I am having trouble deciding which one I want/need. I live in a concrete hi-rise building and there are numerous other competing signals so I want the signal strength to be high. I have been experiencing issues with the internet in a room on the far opposite corner of the apartment (approx 40 feet from the router).

I don't really care how much or little it costs as long as I am not spending more than $250.

Other suggestions/recommendations for a wireless N router?

My dlink is a first generation dir-655. I have tried new firmware and different wireless cards and the problem isn't getting any better. I dont know if competing signals would create a problem but thought it might be worth mentioning. All of the routers i have been looking at are dual bad with 5ghz as an option.
