Best router for online games?

I have roadrunner and want to network my 2 comps together. One for me to play CS, UT etc. and one so my g/f can surf at the same time if she chooses. I was looking at the Linksys but saw that the SMC Barricade was priced cheaper. I know the SMC has a printer port on it. But which one is better for gaming? Thanks

Best one for gaming would be to build a Freesco router. If that option is not available then I do not know which of the hardware routers to tell you. The SMC has a print server so I guess I would choose it.

I just picked up the SMC router, I've got 4 computers running of it and haven't had any problems. I chose the SMC router over the Linksys because it was cheaper, more features and controls, and SMC seems to fix bugs in there firmware much quicker then Linksys does. Also the printer server is handy if you got alot of computers. Oh one other thing about the SMC, I dunno if you know this but there's a $20 US rebate if you buy before April 30. The rebate can be found on the SMC site. That makes it way less the the Linksys.

performance is generally the same, but for most games you will need to map a range of ports for port forwarding. I believe that the linksys is the only router currently available that will map a rane of ports.

there are other ways around this problem, ie placing the game PC into the DMZ.

I think the SMC lets you map a range of ports. As far as playing CS and UT go no ports are needed to be mapped. Ony if you were serving one of those games would you need to forward ports.
