Irreversible was definitively shocking, but it is not the kind of movie you would watch with family and friends. Heck, I wouldn't let anyone in my entourage know that I watched and liked this movie.

Kill Bill and Inglorious Basterds are still top of my list when it comes to revenges enjoyable by the family.

Where does it mention anywhere about family and friends, and while we're at it, why not? It's just a film. Do you think liking it or having seen it says something about you you wouldn't want your family or friends to know? Are you like smarter or more open-minded than your friends? Does some of that flick turn you on? Are you in some closet?

The fact is that judging by what's rammed down our throats here in the States, and what the average audience enjoys here, I'd say that Americans are routinely cheated out of actual cinematic experience. "Here, watch all these remade movies from the 70s and 80s, we're out of ideas."
