I've never had a vid card with an annoying fan before, but the fan on my new 5600 has an extremely irritating whine to it. What is the best (yet quiet) replacement HSF that I can use on my card? Would a Vantec Iceberg or Crystal Orb be my best bet? TIA.

Zalman ZM80C HP. Who needs quiet when you can have dead silent? I have two currently cooling a GF4 and a 9800 Pro w/ no fan.

That sounds like a great plan, but I have a slim-line Dell with absolutely abyssmal cooling. If I tried to run the 5600 with only a passive heatsink, it would get a bit toasty really fast.

best bet.........thats easy pick up a heavy duty CPU heatsink......i used an Alpha pal 6035 :D well you will put the heatsink on the core where it needs to sit.....turn the card over so you can see the back.....use a fine tipped permanent marker to mark thru the back of the card onto the base of the heatsink.....once marked drill out those holes and tap them (you dont need a tap as such since the metal is soft and steel screws will make a thread :) ) now once that hole is made to the perfect size apply thermal grease to the core and a little to your sink and then use four or however many holes you got marked...and some nylon washers to secure the sink to the card......that heatsink should handle pretty much any load that graphics card can toss out...especially an alpha :D
