Best replacement for the stock P4 CPU Fan?

I'm going to buy a 2.8 P4 processor and it comes with HS and stock fan.

I want to replace the fan with a better one.

I do not care about noise levels at all... only airflow. In a perfect world, I'd have a Pratt & Whitney jet intake mounted on top of my HS.

Can anyone recommend the most powerful, CFM, blazing airflow-mover of a CPU fan for me that is socket 478 compatible?

SLK-900U with a 92mm Vantec Tornado - 119cfm - 56.4dba (with fan control if you want your sanity for long......:) )

Thanks d00d .

Also, do you know if those Vantec Tornados will fit into the 2 rear exhausts of a Cheiftec Server Chassis Case?

I don't believe Vantec Tornado's fit in the fan holders for your case without some kind of mod and you would have to use 80mm Tornados instead of the 92mm that you could use on your heatsink.

P.S. But I think those orange Thermaltake Smartfan II's almost put out as much air on their high setting and will fit in a standard fan holder.

Last time I tried (without tools) you couldn't remove the fan on the heatsink. And even if you could, you'd have to remove the clips that hold the heatsink on. If you want a better cooling, replacing the fan won't be as useful as buying a new heatsink. And are you planning to overclock to enormous heights or something? A Tornado wont' get you anymore FSB really.

get a centrifugal grade blower (they top over 400 cf) or a delta 220 cfm on a slk900

Yes, I want to clock to enormus heights. I'm actually planning on getting the EXOS II when it comes out in November, but I was looking into a temporary solution until then.

Maybe I'll just hold on the overclocking until then and just deal with the stock heatsink / fan.

What the heck is a centrifugal blower, and where can I find one? newegg.com doesn't sell anything like that (to my knowledge).

You can get stock P4 HSFs on ebay. Anywhere from $7-15. There's dozens of them available.

Sorry Slappy... I had my facts mixed up. There is no EXOS II coming up (to my knowledge).

I must have been referring to a diffferent cooling system model # and mixed up the brand name.

In any event, I think I'm going to buy an EXOS now.

I'd wager an slk900u w/a tornado could give an exos a run for its money, albeit with a lot more noise. Now, a big honkin radiator and fat tubing might be a different story. :)
