I figure that with as much as George spends on putting his teams together then it's only fair that people across the world root for them. What do you all expect? Lobby for a baseball salary cap and I'm sure that after about 5 years no one but New Yorkers will root for the Yanks. 😉

Yes, and that was your excuse last year after losing to the Marlins, a team with 200% less money to work with (yes we can't forget about the big choke against AZ!).
Speaking of championships, the Cardinals come in second with 9, and Boston in 3rd with 5 (tied with about 5 other teams). You could take all of the fanboys from both St.Louis and Boston and it wouldn't even come close to the bandwagon, fairweather fanboys of NY... The proof is in the pudding Roger, when Yankee Stadium was as silent as Christmas Eve on April 23-25 when Whinebrenner's team got blown out by a combined score of 16-4 in 3 games; and at a time Boston didn't have premier sluggers Nomar and Trot. When your team got booed out their own stadium!
Times have changed, nobody likes NY anymore except fanboys, it's now trendy to root for teams that haven't won. Maybe you're still stuck in the 90's?
Agreed with the bandwagon thing, it's pretty annoying. Living in NY and being raised a Yankees fan I followed them when they blew chunks in the 80s and nobody gave a rat's ass about them, I guess I'm a little miffed to see all these people hop on the damn wagon :| I remember getting great seats on a whim for like $15 😛 Now seats a few rows back from 3b would cost you an arm, leg, testicle, and your firstborn.
I'll be the first one to agree with a salary cap, and I can't stand Steinbrenner. As much as I respect A-Rod as a player and such, I really don't think bringing him in & transplanting him to 3b was the best idea; I think Jeter's lukewarm year so far has a lot to do with having the 'Best SS In Baseball!!!' brought in. The mound could have used that $25 mill a lot more than their third base slot, with Petitte and Clemens leaving, but really when they were in top form in the late 90s it was due to no one big name making 25 mill a year, rather due to a bunch of competent players who didn't let their heads get too big and who meshed well with one another. Steinbrenner's 'zerging' tactic (throw money at something in lieu of having any actual strategy) gets to be a bit much even for a fan of the team :disgust:
But anyway, with their salary, it's about damn time they're in first place. And really, why do Sox fans even follow the game? The team cannot win. If there was any doubt about the supernatural nature of the Curse, I think Bill Buckner should put an end to that for even the most diehard skeptics.

Ok, tell Montreal (never won), Rangers (never), Astros (never), D.Rays (never), Mariners (never), Brewers (never), Padres (never), San Fran (never), Expos (never), Colorado (never), Cubs (1908), and White Sox (1917) fans that they shouldn't root for their team b/c they haven't won in a very, very long time.
You act like Boston fans are the only ones who haven't won in awhile, hell, we have 5 Championships which is more than: Tigers, Chokeland A's (although Philadelphia Atlethics had 5 from 1910-1930), O's, White Sox and Cubs, Indians, Marlins, Twins, Mets, Blue Jays, California/Anaheim Angels combined, D.backs, Atlanta/Boston/Milwaukee Braves combined, Phillies, Royals, Rangers (never), Astros (never), D.Rays (never), Mariners (never), Brewers (never), Padres (never), San Fran (never), Expos (never), and Colorado (never). 24 teams.
