Will pc3200 work or would 3500-4000 be better? Do tight timings matter much on intel systems? Pls gimme some insight. I searched but there wasnt anything that relevant here.

run a 5:4 ram divider, no point in spending tons of $ on PC4000 RAM to run 1:1 w/o tight timings. basically, it's 1:1 fsb slow timings = 5:4 fsb tight timings for mem bandwidth. 3200-3500 should work well, depending on what chip you're getting

the Geil pc 4000 512 platinum 512 kit can be had for $140, which isnt much more than high quality pc3200 kits. it also runs cas 2.5.

cas 2.5 @ 1:1 > cas 2 @ 5:4

CAS doesn't make very much difference. TRCD is the big one. TRCD of 2 is ideal.
