Best quality conversion from DVD to Ipod video

I'm using some unexpensive apps like Cucusoft's Ipod Video Converter Suite. Which I highly recommend for ease of use but I would like to get better quality from it. The stuff you download from itunes is pretty damn good in the quality/file size ratio. Much better quality for the same file size I produce.

I have 400+ DVD's and It would be nice to convert some to Ipod Video for trips.

I believe the latest version of Fairuse Wizard supports Ipod video. I don't use Ipod videos, but use FU for pretty all of my DVD to Divx encoding.

AutoGK is another alternative to try -- it's free but I'm not sure if it supports Ipod encoding specifically.

It does not.

AutoGK supports Xvid and Divx.

The manual version of Gordian Knott also supports x.264, but only outputs to .avi, .ogm, or .mkv containers, so I doubt that its compatible with Ipod.

Thanks for pointing that out. Prior to this thread, I didn't know that the Ipod video was x.264, and not some alternative of Divx/Xvid.
