Best Quake III based game

I just wanted to get everyone's opinion on which Quake III based game is the best. I have Star Trek Voyager Elite Force, and have played MOHAA and SOF2. So just post your favorite Quake III based game here, and please no flame wars.

Definitely MOHAA. I've been RARELY gaming last several months and there's really no games that impress me that much but damn MOHAA did.

another vote for rtcw. good spooky places, babes, and hordes of enemies dont spawn throughout the level to come kill you. i'm not very good, so the difficulty level was ok for me. (mohaa, jk2, sof2 kill me, but they are still fun)

Some of the Quake3 based games are nothing more than what a mod could be. Such as SOF2 and RTCW with some new menus, screens, and single player. The multiplayer of those games though are just like mods. And MOHAA multiplayer is just like DOD mod for half-life. The only thing good about MOHAA is the single player.

My favorite, single player game, built off Quake3 is MoH:AA. Damn that game was addictive and fun. I didn't like it as much for the mutliplayer only because my FPS drops too much, even when I lower the eye candy down a few notches! My second favorite is definitely SoF2. The mutliplayer is just plain too much fun and the single player isn't that bad either (definitely not as fun as MoH).

Runner ups include JK2 and RTCW. RTCW didn't impress me all that much with everything, even though I did finish the game without cheats. I didn't really enjoy the mutliplayer at all with the class based game, so I passed on it immediately.

another vote for MOHAA.

STV: Elite force was neat at the onset, but lacking in story and variety of missions.

I was addicted to MOHAA for quite awhile till i discovered RTCW.

Im not big on the single player on either but they were both enjoyable for a few times through.

RTCW multiplayer is just plain awesome. WHich is why there are lots of clan league competitions for RTCW and not for MOHAA. MOHAA multi has some bad problems but is pretty fn for the casual FPS player. RTCW is more hard core FPS with more involved strategy and higher emphasis on 'twitch' skill. MOHAA seems like slow motion now.

I didnt like SOF2 multi test because it seemed to be hyper twitch orented. I dont have super human mouse/eye controll So I was getting beaten so bad it wasnt even fun to get killed EVERYTIME. after playing RTCW for awhile now I may need to revisit SOF2 and see if i stand a snowballs chance at killing someone. Ive also heard SOF2 has some prety glaring bugs which is keeping me from purchasing it. I dont need to be the best guy on the server, but it is definatly more fun to not get you arse handed to you every match. one of the reasons the genre will never be 'mainstream'

I love RTCW Multiplayer I've been addicted to it for 6 months now.

Do you where I can get help for my addiction?

I can't compare with the other Q3 engines. I really haven't even played Q3 all that much. I purchased it back in late 2001 for $10 bucks - retail@bb. I preferred UT over Q3. Once I played the MP demo of RTCW that was it. It was like a drug dealer that gives you the first sample free to get you addicted and then BAM! You find yourself looking forward to your next fix.

I'm going be getting MOHAA from a friend to try. Anyone know if a MP or Single Player demo exist? I'm also going to install the JK2 soon to try. These games look good, but RTCW got me first. Oh Yea!

It's funny that I hear a lot of people say MOHAA single-player is good but multi-player sucks. I played single player for a couple of days, but once I played multi-player it was all over. I've been playing online an average of about 10-15 hrs per week for the past 3 months and haven't tired of it yet. People are finally starting to put out some nice new multiplayer maps. I was starting to get tired of playing the same maps over and over again.

I got JK2 about 2 weeks ago. It's a lot of fun. But I haven't gotten very good at the lightsaber or the force powers yet. The problem is that every time I have to decide between JK2 and MOHAA I almost always pick MOHAA. I like the more realistic feel and the slower pace.

I was a Quake 2 and Rogue Spear addict for quite awhile. Yeah, I know they don't count, but I liked Q2 better than Q3A for a long time. Of course that could be because Q2 ran nice and smooth on my K6-2 380 with a Voodoo 3 and Q3A was choppy as hell. When I went up to my XP 1700+ with GF3 Ti200, Q3A looked gorgeous.

1. MOHAA
2. JK2
3. Quake 3 Arena

Can't comment on others since I haven't played them.
