Hi everyone,

What would be the best PSU for an overclocked (i.e. above 4GHz) Prescott system?

Is multiple +12V railings better or a single albeit stronger rated single +12V railing?

Many thanks,

4GHZ! Wowee! I'm quite sure a 500W will be your minimum. I'll personally recommend a dual 12 V rails vice a single one.

Thanks,

SilverStone Silverstone ST65ZF or Akasa AK-P650FF BK, both rated as very good in several reviews either as God like or "close to perfect high-end power supply".

do you have links to said articles? i would rather the op go with a fortron, enermax, pc&p, seasonic. 1 review is not the end of all benches, and most of us have never heard of them. i think i know what article you are talking about, the one where they guy did 34 articles...small site, posibility of influence (yes i am a paranoid guy), trying to make a name for himself.....

I've gone with the Akasa AK-P650FF BK for now since it has 4x +12V rails and also supports dual processor motherboards if need be. Within reviews many have reported solid voltages which I find important (as would others I assume).

:Q Which Prescott, and will that be aircooled? I've heard of people at HardForum who managed to do it on air, but I would think the system would sound like a bit like a vacuum cleaner or jet engine.

3.73GHz EE

CPU cooler is Titan Vanessa L Type cooler.

Just want to give it a solid power source as these chips overclock very well but like to draw a lot of power from the +12V lines.

Without knowing the specs of your system, a good name-brand 400W PSU will be more than adequate.

600W+ is complete and utter overkill.
