Best program to backup DVD?

I have a DVD that I want to backup, it is The Secret, you know, motivational kind of documentary.

What is the best program to allow me to convert this into an AVI with good quality (around 700 MB in size) without the need for expertise?

Why back it up to something that lossy? You could make a perfect ISO copy using DVDShrink/DVDDecrypter, or to MKV/MP4 using Handbrake.

Ah coz I like to keep all my DVDs backed up in one folder to put on my external HDD so I can play them via my DVD player by hooking it through the USB. Best way to keep my collection.

I'm using the Trial of DVDFab 8 Qt v8.1.6.1 and it did the job well where all other programs failed since the DVD was copy protected!

I wish I could buy it but it costs an arm and a leg!

DVD2AVI v1.86 has not been updated since 2002.

But again why backup a DVD to a 700MB avi file, unless you want to upload it to a torrent site. The quality is going to suck.

AutoGK is a good DVD to avi converter, but you are going to first need a program to break the copy protection, like AnyDVD, or use an all-in-one like DVDFab.

You can try DVD Decrypter but it has not been updated since 2005.

But DVDFab enabled me to successfully rip the DVD without doing anything, it resolved the DVD protection issue and was able to rip it.

And sorry I didn't make it clear, I don't want it to be exactly 700 MB, I ripped it to 1.3 GB and it was ok, it's just a documentary anyway but it's a fantastic motivational DVD, you should see it, it will change your life and lead you to success
