I have decided that it is time to back up my DVD collection on to my servers HD and need to know what is the best programs to use. It has been years since I have done anything similar and at the time I was using DVDshrink.

So what is the best program(s) to use?

DVDFabDecypter is also very good.

DVD Decrypter is starting to have problems with newer DVDs. If you want to play it on the safe side, use DVDFabDecrypter for all your DVDs, and DVD Shrink to compress them.

DVD shrink is still my favorite.
And you can use is to make DVD-9 format ISO's for use in a dual-layer burner. Just check the Preferences..... tab.

If you're ripping to the hard drive, don't compress anything. Clip languages you don't speak, and extras you'll never watch - but leave the movie untouched. :p

Yeah, but then it has to resample and that takes long time.
I just want bit-for-bit so I can burn it later.
And I didnt even get a dual-layer until last month.

I originally backed up a dozen favorites in low-quality mode just so they would fit on a 4.7GB disc.
Now I have to re-rip and burn.
