best program for converting videos for ipod video/touch?

Can anyone recommend a good program that I can use to convert dvds so I can watch them on my video or touch?

IF you are on the Mac, you can't really beat Handbrake for going from DVDs to iPodTouch/iPhone. If you are on Windows, then you will need DVDDecrypter as your first item, then maybe DVDShrink, then finally Handbrake.

You don't need to do that on the Mac because they have copy-protection circumvention in place on the OS X version of Handbrake, but that is simply not there on the Windows version, hence the pre-steps.

Videora works for me. The interface is a bit quirky and has ads (it's free though) but it gets the job done.

I'm not sure if this applies to your Ipod touch but whenever i convert videos using videora, they crash on me. The movie would play for a few minutes then stop and return me back to the video list. This has been a widely reported problem on many of the ipod touch forums.

Another nod for handbrake. The extra steps are a slight pain on windows, but its still an excellent product on either platform.
