welli like how it runs now, with my 6800GT SLI, im still running great with game,s but I know I got a little more room for improvement, with out breaking the bank.

Is it worth it to go to a 4000+ Clawhammer? or a FX 57 or 55????

or should I just keep what I have?

I suggest an X2 3800+. My A8N-SLI Premium accepted one with open arms. The only downside is it's limiting me to 2.7 Ghz at 1.34v, the bastard mb.

Wel lwhats the performance difference with the X2s compared to what I have? What about going to a 2.2 or 2.4 X2 over my standard 2.2 I have now, what do you see as the performance differences???

Also, Im readsing all this about conflicts running dual core with some games for a gaming PC? should I still do it, what kind of performance gain can you see with me making a serious dualcore upgrade?

Oh and Im not looking to overclock, but myab einterested if its very easy with the dualcores..

Oh and What the hell does FX really have to offer to make it that much more exspensive?

Going from a single core to a dual core Athlon 64 will result in a system that it snappier in response, overall performance will improve as well especially if you run multi threaded applications. More and more games now support dual core CPUs and graphics drivers can now use the second processor to boost performance. Having 2 CPUs also helps with single threaded games because the OS still has some background tasks that can now be done on the second CPU.

As for why the FX series chips are so expensive - well they have an unlocked multiple so they are more suitable for the more extreme overclockers out there, they also represent the very fastest chips wou can buy for the desktop and so command a price premium as a result.

any socket 939 cpu will work. Personally I think the opteron 1XX series are the best value and great overclockers. FX series will be your top stock speed performer at about 3 times the price.

Bare with me, I only get into hardware knowledge and lastest tech when Im doing an upgrade, and its been a year so....

Ok , this is a stupid question, and I can't believe I have to ask it, But Dual Core just means one proccessor still right? It doesnt mean doing 2 CPU's does it? My A8N is a single proccessor board, but does support dual core..... does a Dual Core proccessor act as 2 ? is that hopw it works? also, what about compatability with older games, and future tech inthe next yr-yr and half....is a dual core the best way to go? or no? Price is an issue but not a driver, I don't think I would do an FX, but i don't mind spending the money on a good dual core.

I also don't think I would be overclocking

I like the idea of doing a dual core, im just worried about compabilty issues, I have read some posts on diff sites about problems with dual core...

I have a A8N-SLI Deluxe and have used a Athlon 64 3400+ (which is a 3500+ with 800 HT instead of 1000 HT) and a 3800 X2. I hate to say this buy most games benchmarked faster with the 3400+. FEAR, CS:S, and Quake 4 (I did not use SMP mode for Q4 due to issues with Nvidia drivers)were all faster with the 3400+. I'm now sorry I did not get the 4200 X2. In games that only use single core, the 3800 X2 is going to be slower than your 3500+.
