Best Price Performance Dual CPU / Mobo combo?!!

The price ($1000+) is little too steap for now on this dual Athlon MP + Tyan Mobo.

cz,

How would you like this? A7M266-D. Based on the 760MP. Due out this month. It should be a lot cheaper than the serverized Tyan offering.

Don't forget the ECS D6VAA. It's mentioned in the Tom's Hardware review, but for some reason the price is given at "around $150." You can find it on pricewatch starting at $76 for the non-raid version, and $95 and up for the raid version.

You can find a review of it here.

I had the ECS and its a good board but didn't appriciate it enough until i got rid of it for my MSI 🙁

ECS Board is a very good option -- one ECS raid + 2 PIII 1GHz costs about $500 now. If Asus board comes out at $250 - $300 range, then I might use it with two Athlon 1GHz (non-MP version) for about the same price. According to Tom's article those non-MP Athlons are fully capable of running in dual mode.

cz, they are, but they're noticeably slower. Athlon MP has a new "MOESI" cache management strategy that is dramatically faster in dual processing than was the old "MESI".

regards, Peter
