Best price for Geforce4 ti4200? Please help

I've checked pricewatch, pricetool, etc. all those search engines and have not really found a good deal on one of these cards. Can someone recommend a good place to buy one from online? I want to spend less that $120 if possible. Also, which brands are good ones? sfx, pny, albatron, etc. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Those two cards look pretty good. Ia Albatron a pretty reliable company? Is the Gainward one worth the $9 more? Also, what does "factory reconditioned" mean? Is it the same as refurbished? Also, ti4400 is better than ti4200, right? Thanks for all your help guys. Anyone else have any comments?

Go to newegg.com and you can get a 4200 for as low as $82 (64mb). They have a nice Leadtek 128mb card for $120, which is what I would suggest.

Looks like the Leadtek is out of stock. I would then go for the Chaintech A-GX20 128mb 8x for $119 shipped. It seems that the 4200's are starting to disappear so you better grab one while you can.

I've heard lot of problems with Gainward Geforce 4 cards. Faulty capacitors. They might have corrected the problem but I would still avoid their Geforce 4 lineup.

MSI 4400 at ComputerGeeks is refurb.

I've purchased stuff from ComputerGeeks and had no problem. I recently purchased new 128 meg Asus Ti4200 from them for $89 to replace my old Geforce 2 MX. Great card for the money. I don't have experience with their refurb, but I hear it's hit or miss.
Couple of people from Hot Deals forum bought that MSI 4400 at higher prices and got DOA boards. Others had no problems whatsoever. Luck of the draw I guess. I would do search in that forum or Fat Wallet forum about that MSI card from ComputerGeeks.

albatron is good, Gainward is best. $119 is a good price for it.

ti4200<ti4400<ti4600 btw

factory reconditioned is the same as refurb

unfortunately, there's a good probability that you will be testing their RMA services first-hand. huge, gigantic thread about gainward ti4200s here. i have 2 of them. neither has given me a single problem. one has been used and abused since Oct, the other i just received in a trade. they overclock decently. 315/546 and 315/585. others have had theirs for a year before they get the checkerboard or pink-screen-of-death.

read up on that thread so you will know the signs of a gainward going bad and keep the RMA info handy.

i've seen many that like the albatron and they appear to oc well. if you want to seriously overclock to ti4600 speeds easily, get this ASUS at newegg. it will hit 320/650 pretty easily from what i understand. tho it is more expensive that the others you're looking at.

Yeah, I read from various sites about people having real problems with their Geforce 4 Ti cards. I know while back Newegg sold Gainward 4200 real cheap all of sudden and then it disappeared from their stock. I've feeling Newegg was getting tired of RMA these cards and sold it real cheap to get rid of them. Gainward made great Geforce 2 and 3 cards. It's just unfortunate they had faulty capacitor problems with Geforce 4. I do hear they have excellent support and RMA service. 3yr warranty is lot better than most companies.

I believe the pink problem with the Gainward cards was just involving the 64MB Ti4200. Keep checking newegg for refurbished video cards. I have bought at least 25 cards there, and only 2 were bad and easily rma'd. I just bought a Gainward Ti4800 128MB card for $114 shipped that is running 330/684 as I type this.

Again, I have to say, spend an extra $20 ( about $140 total) and get an Asus V8420S... it's a Ti4200 that can easily overclock to the same speed and even higher than a Ti4600. That's the absolute best value of all video cards right now IMHO.
