Hey everyone,

I'm shopping for a prepaid plan, and I was wondering if I could get some help looking at providers. I'm looking for a carrier that uses either at&t's or verizon's (preferably the latter's) network and allows for bringing my own device. I've read things that some networks of the pre-paid providers have issues with 4G phones, and while I don't really care much about LTE I'd rather not have to deal with the flashing issues and things like that. I've spent a couple hours looking into them but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything obvious. Any recommendations would be quite welcome!

If you want verizon, then the phones are limited. They only allow 3g phones, no LTE unless you flash them. There are also services that flash it for you.

The only vzw prepaid providers I know of are
Pageplus
Straight talk

Best resource for flashing is here

Also if you are interested in an iphone 5, straight talk sells a refurbished iphone 5 for $400 that uses verizon, but if you use a cash back site you can get 20% back later. So total is about $320, not a bad deal?

It is 3g only, no LTE.

If you could I would rather get an att prepaid provider. Phones choices are much better and plans too.

The best 3 this week:

Solavei $49 unlimited text/data/minutes through T-Mobile towers
ATT GoPhone $60 unlimited text/minutes, 2GB data
PagePlus $55 unlimited text/minutes, 2GB data through Verizon towers

He doesn't want to bother with flashing, so unless he's okay with phones from 2010 or older, he needs to stick with ATT or T-Mobile and forget about PagePlus.

Other than that, I concur. I especially liked the new GoPhone $60 which will get you LTE. It's absolutely fantastic.

T-mobile also has a $30 plan that gets you 5gb of high speed, but only 100 minutes.

As for options, I'd say either Straight talk (with at&t sim) or AiO wireless. You can use any unlocked GSM phone on them. T-mobile works too, but they can't guarantee high speeds unless it has specific bands.

I'd say Straight Talk/Net 10 are the best using AT&T's network, followed by AT&T's Go Phone.
