best prebuilt?

My dad has been looking to upgrade his office work home pc. I told him i could build a computer for him and it would cost alot less than what dell costs, etc. Hes pretty stubborn and his "computer expert friends" said to buy a dell refurb. I looked at the comp he was interested in buying.. a celeron 2.4ghz, generic onboard video/audio... generic ram, generic 512.. i think for around $350 (this is refurb too). I showed him what i could build for that price, but hes intent on getting a "good stable system" with warranty from a reputable seller, like dell. So.. are there any other prebuilt sites that would provide a better solution than dell?

It is hard to beat a Dell for business/home office use, especially when they release an amazing deal.

Just look for their deals in the Hot Deals section.

I got one for around $375.00 with a P4, 17" LCD, 512mb ram, and 80 Gig hard drive.

if your looking for cheap, i'd go for a emachine with a sempron over a dell with a celeron. better performance and tech support (emachine doesn't outsource, unless they've changed recently).

try envisioncs.net

i've purchased from them recently and they build very high quality systems. they're prices probably aren't as low as dell's hot deals, but this company is very reliable. tech support is amazing. they typically respond to an email within 1 hour (and mostly the person who replies is the owner of the company himself) during business hours. they've also got a wide selection of components available... or you can email them if you want to order a particular item. also, they use real after market parts, not some cheap proprietary parts like dell uses.

Definitely keep your eyes open monday and tuesday mornings-noon, Dell will probably continue their awesome deals as they close their quarter and release their earnings numbers.

Dell has good deals, but Dell stuff is crap.

I have in Inspiron 600m. It feels like junk. And believe me, because my mom has an HP nc6000 and my uncle has an IBM T41. All 3 of our laptops are virtually identical because they're all 14.1" screens with Dothans and are the same size. Yes. STupid Dell... All plasticky, cheap and hollow feeling. The nc6000 is a solid sexy laptop that I wish I bought instead. =(
