I want it to be powerful enough to run an SLI setup as well as 2 or 3 optical drives and up to 4 HDD's

This is by far the BEST PSU under $300.

That's 510W RMS. Peak is 650W, if you're into that kind of labelling.

^ What he said. If you have the $300 to spend on a the BEST PSU, there's nothing better than PC Power & Cooling PSUs.

My recommendation are:
Enermax
Seasonic because I am personally using them.
PCP&C is out of my range.

Fortron is my only recommendation when a newbie has a budget of $50 and a first build. I believe that we're here to recommend and help, not to criticize and call people names.
Some of you out there have been too used to doing that as a matter of fact. How about letting others express their opinions and let it go at that....:)

QFT

This is the most stable specialty PSU I've owned.

So much for following one's own advice, huh?

Shall I reveal some of the uncouth PMs you sent me?

EDIT: BTW, when are you going to make good on your threat?

Howard, as the AT mods have told me earlier, there are some who have been here so long that they feel feel that they can criticize and impose their wills on everyone else.
I never attack anyone because I respect their opinions, but as I told you once, I will forever respond. You have been here so long that in your mind that no one has a good opinion.
So you resort by cute remarks. I don't need that kind of cr@p, so if you respect my opinions and I'll respect yours.
Don't try to bully, coerce, or show people how you really can be. It doesn't seem to affect you, because my only response is evident. You make everything so personal.
So my question is:
Are you speaking from hands-on experience or past experience? Are you actually using the equipment or are you that knowledgeable?
I do pro-bono building and tutoring computers at a local college, and every semester I sign up for more classes. I try to keep up with changes at school, and my friend's computer shop.
I may have forgotten a lot, but I'm still trying to keep learning new stuff.
Since you have resorted to this, I find it necessary to ask. :)

You've been here less than a year and you've already taking on this characteristics.

More utter nonsense, just like the rest.
