Famous Last Words: "I have an X-Connect and if it blows, I'll just buy another..." Maybe a whole new system too! None of these PSU tests on the web test to failure so how does anyone know except for the anecdotes whether they fail nice or nasty.?.

Take this with a grain of salt, but I recommended 3 Antec true powers a few years ago. 2 of which died in 3 months. And third one died shortly after.
To balance that a little, my work fleet has about 36 Antec PSUs, the majority of which are TruePower. Some of those systems will be coming up the third year of their expected 5-year lifespan, and they're holding up fine so far. Granted, I'm not pushing them hard... TP330 for an nForce system with onboard everything. I think they call this "engineering." 😉

Just from personal experience working for electronics stores in returns and repair, I will never skimp out on a power supply.

I have seen defective powersupplies melt procs, burn 4pin molex connector and ruin hard drives, destroy motherboards (capacitor once blew and shot at my arm), all at the customer's expense.

Buy a good power supply.
It is honestly the one component that can do the most damage.
Not only will it die, it can take many many other components with it.
