I just finished my new rig and have yet to buy a copy of Windows. Are there any places where i can get a good deal with a student discount?
 
If you goto a college or university check with your tech department. Chances are you can get a copy for free or pretty damn close to free.
 
yep, check with the tech department. Here at A&M we get Microsoft software for $5 per CD

meaning $5 for XP Pro and $15 for Office =?
 
I'm a highschool sophomore so that option probably isn't available. However, my cousin who is living with us at the moment is going to the local community college. My computer tech teacher said that she could probably get it for cheap from the student bookstore. I was going to have my cousin check it out tomorrow. Would it be available at the book store or is there somewhere else she should look?
 
It turns out that only students taking a computer class can get any discount. My plan now is to ask a friend who kind of knows a guy who's a computer science major at Cal Poly to get him to buy a copy. Any other ideas?
