Hello,
I am looking buy a Lenovo Thinkpad.
Please tell what is the best place to buy it from?
My needs:- i want to customize it and i am hoping for a good deal.
So far only the Lenovo Shop online gives me the option to customize it...
Any other place which can offer a decent price and customizing option?
Thanks
Justin

As far as I'm concerned, the best place is the Lenovo store on line - especially for customization. I wouldn't look elsewhere. Done three of them that way, and all have been excellent and exactly as ordered.

I agree with corkyg. Never buy it without a coupon - there's ALWAYS a way to shave the price down.

Also, check the Lenovo outlet. When I ordered my T520, I just so happened to find the exact same configuration on the outlet. Saved me some money.

Corkyg outlines the method that I used when I got my X200.

If my memory serves me correctly, I bought it during a 25% off sale. Discovered the sale while browsing FatWallet.

Best of luck,
Uno

Bought one x120e with 4gb ram, 7200rpm hdd and 7 pro 64bit from NCIX - got them to pricematch
Mine I ordered directly from Lenovo with 7 home premium and 2gb ram and 5400rpm hdd for $377 and just upgraded on my own.

lenovo store is great if you get a deal otherwise not so much. Took freaking forever to get processed and finally delivered.

Dear Guys!
Thank you very very much for the replies and help.
It really makes me happy to see that there are wonderful people like you out there to help novices like me!
I shall buy fm Lenovo itself and luckily they are offering a 10 % discount and free shipping with their winter sale!
Kind Regards
Justin

they rotate discounts every 2-3 weeks. Once you see the model you want, keep an eye on the store and wait until there's a solid discount on it. I've bought an ideapad and a couple tablets...all fairly heavily discounted.

I snagged my x220 at a 30% discount. That was through a discount forum though. 20-25% discounts can be had more regularly.

You can try this:

Link

Found it at notebookreview...think their might be a mastercard affiliate discount as well. Several people over there have used it to get a better price.

You may want to check the Lenovo site now.

I was just there and they are advertising some excellent discounts (ecoupon) on the T420 and the T520. See:

http://shop.lenovo.com/us/laptops/thinkpad

They are showing $982. off on both of those models. With sale prices,(for their given configurations) of $809.80.

Thanks Uno! I saw the lenovo and the winter sale is offering a nice discount of 10percent and free shipping. I will get ir from there only. I am wondering that if wintersale is giving a 10% discount then the ack to school sales in AUgust etc would be even better... any sense?

If you want to use a visa card, you can enter lenovo.com/visa and receive a discount on everything (upgrades also) as long as you use a visa card for payment. Coupons can stack on top of this discount also.

In the past (last Summer anyway) Lenovo was willing to refund the difference if they offered the exact system at a lower price for a short period after your purchase. I don't recall the details but they refunded ~15% of the purchase price on an X220 I bought from the Lenovo store. They don't advertise price protection so if you buy and the price drops soon after you have to contact a sales rep and ask for it. They were very nice about it.

Please Beware of Buying from Lenovo online!

I purchased a computer 5 months ago. I paid for a 3 year warranty. They did not honor it. I paid almost $300.00 for the warranty. Too bad, everytime a problem, they said give me more money. They had the computer returned within 30 days.

Bluetooth mouse doesn't work.

Lenovo: We will need a deposit first. We won't send out a replacement.

CD/DVD didn't work. I believed it was hardware related, but I had to listen to them. Lenovo had me remove some filters from the software in WIN 7. I'm still burning coasters.

Lenovo. Go to FEDEX for a free computer shipping box and return it to us. FEDEX said the boxes aren't free and charged me almost $20.00.

Now, I placed all the parts in the box and told them it was a return because they don't honor their warranty and only keep asking for more money.

I've sent many emails and recorded text chats. They always refuse to return my money, any and all of it. I have a large file on this and must send it to the State Attorney Generals Office.

Please be careful. The CEO of Lenovo is a Chinese gentleman and apparently he'll do whatever he wants pertaining to business in the USA.

Like I said, I'm out $1300.00.

Metro Business Systems sells some nice Thinkpads (used) returned rom sale and lease to businesses. I got some refurbs at TigerDirect.com
