was looking for a photo printer that might double as a color printer when required, and will be used in adjunct with a Samsung laser. I thought Epson was the best, but after reading the reviews at NewEgg, I saw Canon at the top of the heap....mainly, the PIXMA IP3000, IP4000, and IP5000 printers. Anyone have any experience shopping for new color/photo printers, or own any of these printers? Or any other color printers that can give suggestions?

I have used the Pixma series and Epson's R series..

I personally don't think the R200 for $100 bucs can be beat. R800 if you need 8 color printing.

Aside from hearing the random dry out of the print heads, I see no problems.

Go to a retail store and check them out, print some samples. You can buy carry in replacements on them as well. ALL printers are made so cheap now, it's worth it.

Save you the hassle of dealing with Epson or Canon.

IP3000 Canon prints color (Canon A95 digital camera) glossy pics BETTER or as good as any 35mm film I've had developed. (35mm camera is Canon Rebel w/F1.4 lense, 55mm I think)

Some say to get the ip4000 or 1p5000 as they have extra ink cartidges for even better prints.

The Canon Pixma iP5000 can print at 9600x2400, which is double that of the iP4000's 4800x1200.

Does anyone know where is the best place to get either the iP4000 of the iP5000? I'm thinking about pairing this printer with the newest digital rebel (350D right? as a self b-day present. I've already looked at newegg for the printer, not sure where to get the digital rebel.
