When was the last time you could get the top of the line single core processor for less than a few hundred bucks?
Does that mean for the past few years prices have been artificially inflated?
Do we as consumers have any course of action to take to verify this?

I'll enjoy the price cuts like everyone else. Reminds me of the old days when I wouldn't upgrade my processor unless I could get 50%+ performance boost for less than $100.

I'm gonna upgrade with the AMD price cuts, ive been dying for dual core, and for $160 you really can't go wrong because I can just drop it right into my existing setup without any other hardware changes. I just hope I don't have a problem locating the processor at the price I want.

I paid C$1000 for my Pentium 60 (and C$750 for the motherboard) back when it just came out. I don't see why you are complaining about multi Giga Hertz CPUs being a few hundred bucks.
