best Performance New Build for cs5 use under 2100$

Junior Member
Hi guys,
A friend and i are looking to change our camputers we both have about 2100$ (hope i ll not spend all of it). I was going to buy the i7 950 until the new sandy bridge architecture came out.
the main use will be cs5 photophop premiere aftereffects and occasionally gaming.
now i have a couple of questions about the efficiency of both the built in graphics chip and the system i ve chosen so far :
i7 2600K
Asus P8P67-DELUXE-B3
Zalman Ventirad CNPS 10X Extreme
RAM??? i was going for Kit Dual Channel DDR3, 4 x 4 Go, PC3-12800, CAS 9. is it compatible?are all 16gb necessary ? or is there any better price performance choice?
GeForce GTX 560 Ti OC, 1 Go, Gigabyte 1024 Mo GDDR5
SSD OCZ Vertex 2, 120 Go, SATA II
2 HDD Caviar Black, 500 Go, 32 Mo, 7200 tpm, SATA III WESTERN DIGITAL for RAID 0
Corsair HX750W or HX 650 W Power Supply
NZXT Phantom Full Tower Computer Case

we are lookin forward for your advice
thanks for your help

You've got a good start there, but you're overspending in a few places and have some non-optimal choices in others.

Here's something better IMHO:
i7 2600K + GA-P67A-UD3 combo $420 - the Deluxe is just too expensive for what it is
Hyper 212+ $35
G.Skill DDR3 1333 8GB $80 - I doubt you need 16GB, but you can double up on this if you want
GTX 560 $200 AR
Intel 320 120GB $225 - OCZ has quality issues
Samsung F3 1TB $55 - Get as many as you want, don't RAID 0
Samsung DVD Burner $20
Neo Eco 520C $60 - plenty of power for this system
NZXT Phantom $126 AP
Total: 1141 AR AP w/ 8GB and 1 HDD

Looks like you can probably build both systems with just one budget! I recommend spending the rest on a nice IPS monitor if you don't already have one.

about the MB i m not looking for the lowest price . i am afraid to have something less performing and really want to make the system efficiency on the top
i chose the P8P67 cause it s popular and has great results according to the forums and tests for the overcloking (i ll probably make an OC in one year or two )
instead of a cheaper MB i ll look for a better one than the P8P67 ...i am looking forward for your suggestions
about the RAM :Kit dual channel DDR3 Ripjaws, 2 x 4 Go, PC3-10666 , Cas 9, G.Skill thats all i found is it ok?

Samsung F3 1TB $55 - Get as many as you want, don't RAID 0
😕
why shouldn't i make a Raid 0 many people who work on cs5 recommand a Raid 0 BTW
i don't really need more storage capacity (i have 3T external HDDs) 500Go will be sufficient for the work flow.
what do you think?
thanks again

If you're going to RAID 0, you better make damn sure you have daily backups... even then...eh.

Isn't the overclocking done entirely through the CPU multiplier? Then that should mean the mobo has even less to do with the OCing process than it used to be, other than provide stable power. I'd save my money and go with the cheaper board. It's not like the Gigabyte UD3 is a cheap POS board anyways.

The G.Skill Ripjaws are good.

It's not about storage capacity; the point is that the Samsung F3 1TB is cheap and FAST.
In the USA (newegg.com), the WD5002AALX (500GB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s) is $63. The Samsung F3 is $55. They both use 500GB platters and probably offer similar performance, but the Samsung is cheaper.

However, if you need some serious speed, why not get another SSD instead?

All P67 motherboards perform the same, so you don't have to worry there. Like fffblackmage said, the only difference is the features and power-delivery circuitry. The UD3 is a good overclocker.

Are you in the US? If so, then get the RAM I linked. If not, then you should have probably mentioned that in the OP and given us a link to a web store in your country.

I second Cheapbass here. RAID0 is just asking to lose data unless you have a very good backup regimen. Like fffblackmage said, if you need speed, SSDs are the way to go.

ok perfect ! this is valuable informations
i am learning a lot, and it's exciting to get closer and closer to this final new built (it ll be the most powerfull computer i ever had)
thank you really,

about RAID0 i meant RAID1 (sorry)
i am not aiming for a better speed but to protect the data with a serious backup when working on a project

Careful - RAID is not a backup solution. At best, it'll protect you from a failed HDD, but it won't protect you from data corruption or random acts of god.

If your data is uber important, then you should have an external backup, like an external HDD or NAS, and an off-site backup.
