Best PCI UATA-100 Controller Card?

Dude, get a clue. Why should we recommend a company with horrible track record, zero customer service and millions of unhappy customers? Its not a matter of ATA66 or ATA100, that crap has nothing to do with why I recommend Promise over them. We're sorry we hurt your feelings by not recommending HiPoint, but thats just for good's sake. Now just get over it and stop whining.

Lxi, first of all if you could actually read my original post, which you seem to have trouble doing, I suggested the f**king PROMISE card. Second, millions of unhappy customers huh? Where did you pull that stat from...you a*s? I am sorry if you guys are all offended because I have had no problems with several of highpoints ATA100 chips and I dared suggest them as an option. I still have yet to see anyone complain about the ATA100 highpoint, I keep hearing crap about that U66 one. Lastly, I just came in to this thread to point out that there was another option to the Promise card...good or bad, and it seems to have started a war...so stupid. As far as whining, I think you might want to look in the mirror for that one pal, just because my opinion doesn't jive with the almighty Lxi, I guess I must be wrong. I had no intention of getting in a dispute over this and I have over and over again restated that I suggest that Promise card, but you seem to overlook that because I dared to have no problems with a highpoint controller. Also, as far as support goes, if Highpoint does no market their controllers directly to the public like Promise, why would they have good tech support? I believe their controller is only available as a integration on Abit and other motherboards and the only card form is from Abit, so if there is a problem, you should call the mobo manufacturer or the card manufacturer. Anyway, I don't have time to waste getting in stupid flame wars over a piece of freaking hardware, I actually have better things to do. I guess next time we should just tell the guy what is best in our minds because lord knows he can't actually think for himself and make a decision himself...LOL.

Im terribly sorry that I didnt recommend HiPoint, oh they're so great, everyone should buy them! Seriously! They're totally troublefree, their customer support is so good nobody can touch them. They put up new drivers everyday and solve every single problem in existence. Oh yea and they work with all hard drives too, even Maxtor drives which is known to be incompatible with HiPoint RAID, but they solved the problem, their daily driver team is so talented, they're the best driver team in the nation! And yea, they're hella cheap too, only $10 for a RAID card, people who choose other brand such as the lowly Promise are dumbasses. HiPoint rules!!!

To throw a couple other cards into the mix too (if I dare) I believe SIIG makes one, and so does Maxtor which has/had a nice rebate when you buy a Maxtor drive....IBM 75GXP is better tho IMO

If you already have ATA/66 don't bother unless you want more channels. As far as ATA/66 cards vs ATA/100 cards, the ATA/100 cards aren't much more expensive...so why not?

I went with a Promise ATA/100, BTW.

I have had experience with SIIG, and they're fine, definitely better than CraPoint.

I agree XeonTux, I have a Promise Ultra 100 in my system that coexist with my highpoint just fine, they even share the same IRQ...

You are correct. I don't recall &quot;critiquing&quot; anyones use of the language. I merely stated that just saying something &quot;sucks&quot; or &quot;rules&quot; with no back up is not the best way to get a point across. I don't pretend to be a master of the english language or something, and I am very aware that there are many people here who don't know english too well. After all, I don't even know a second language, unless you count some latin or the few spanish swear words I know, so all the people who speak english as a second language here are doing a hell of alot better than me. I just prefer to have a reasoned discussion about hardware, not just saying one thing is better than another...
