In addition, from everything else I've heard the Socket 939 cpu's have the controller built right into the chip and such systems can handle 4x512mb with no drecrease in performace. As I've been acting under this assumption, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Some steppings of athlon 64 in conjunction with some motherboards cannot run the memory at its rated speed. Examples would be having to scale back the command rate from 1T to 2T and clocking the memory down to 333mhz (from 400). For the most part this has been resolved on newer chipsets and steppings of A64s, but it still rears its ugly head occasionally with just the right (or wrong depending on how you look at it) setup.

7300GS is a good choice, 2X1GBis better cuz 4X512 will do as Acanthus said and scale back to command rate of 2T

Not a gamer? Then get a Radeon x1300 non pro passive cooled. That way you get avivo even though it is still beta. Best DVD viewing in the market and super fast transcoding, ecoding and decoding.

I did read somewhere that the 7300 was meant to be under x1300 in gaming performance.

Hmmmmm now you got me thinking. What is the best PCI Express VIVO card I could get for around $125? I could get some use out of a VIVO card. Thanks for that input!

VIVO Cards for under $125 would give you this X800GTO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814142052R

I'd say that PureVideo is a better solution to AVIVO but neither of those is available on the X800GTO.

PureVideo = 7300GS
AVIVO = X1300

The X1600PRO killuminati linked is the best card of the ones linked IMO. I wouldn't pay any attention to 256mb on cards of that level either, they just aren't fast enough to take advantage of it.
