I'm looking to get a nice PCI video card for under 100 clams. My main deal with it is that I need excellent 2D output for everything from text to pictures. This is for use on a LCD monitor.

whats the best thing right now?

The best 2D card was Matrox G400 PCI... look on ebay

EDIT: There were also PCI versions of the voodoo3 available and you can still get new GF2-MX PCI cards from asus... sparkle also still makes budget PCI TNT2-M64s

No its going to have a generic analog connector. This is why I'm very worried about the video card RAMDAC and output quality. A crappy output quality from analog into an LCD converting back into digital will suck the big one. I definitely don't want an MX or Voodoo3 (I have both.....and the visual quality leaves something to desire).

i think the only PCI video cards w/ good 2D quality and DVI out and are widely available will be the ATI all-in-wonder (Radeon) cards...
the g450 might have a DVI out PCI version, but i'm not sure.

oh wait, are u using a regular 15-pin d-sub analog connector??? - if so, then grab a g450 16/32mb or ATI Xpert (if u don't care for 3d too much, or Radeon if u do)...
