But I never hear anyone raving about them, I always hear people sack riding the Klipsch speakers. Could he get better for the money?

Take your pick, any of these prolly would of been better, for sure the Z5500 would of been a beet buy all around with better sound and DD &DTS decoding, bigger sub, more power, BLAH BLAH BLAH.

If you are content with the 2.1 system like i am then grab yourself a pair of Logitech z-2300s. They are only like 115 bucks. If you want to go higher end go for the 5500s or whatever it was replaced by from logitech.

I love my Altec Lansing MX5021's. Do they even still make them though? They're the best 2.1 computer speakers I've heard.

Logitech 5300s are pretty good for less than $150, but go with the 5500s if you want to spend more.

BTW, and I know I will get flamed for it, but I will admit to it.

I bought my dad a set of Bose comp speakers ($100 "OMFG IT BURNS" ) because he had an eye for them.

I say go with Swan's.
