I'm wanting opinions from people that have used the motherboards they are recommending please.I have a P4 2.53 GHZ processer(533 buss).I have very little along the lines of requirements, but I would like USB 2.0,and onboard LAN.I would prefer something without onboard sound.I will be running a Geforce 4 video card in it,so I'm not worried with radeon 9700 issues.I also like to dabble in overclocking,so I would like a good stable board.I guess that's about it,so.....What would everyone recommend.Onboard Raid would be a plus as well.

the ABIT BE7-RAID has everything you're lookin' for but does have 6ch sound, but that shouldn't be a problem since it's easily disabled in the bios. If you can live without RAID the Albatron PX845PEV PRO is a screamer and was reviewed right here by Evan Lieb the Anandtech motherboard reviewer. Anyways most boards have sound but I wouldn't let that deter me.

I'm using the SR7-8X (with onboard realtek LAN and 6 USB2.0). The board performs very well, and I love all the memory divider options (at 133FSB, you can run the memory at 200, 266, 333, 355, 400, 443, 533). My only complaint with the board is that it is a poor overclocker by Abit's standards.

Overall, I'd say the SR7-8X is one of the best value P4 boards.

(The SR7-8X cost $147CAD while the new Asus P4PE costs $249CAD here in Montreal).

This board gos for less than $99 here in the US. Which for a abit is a great deal. This board should do what you want and not break the bank

How is the SR7-8X compared to the PX845PEV PRO? It seems the features and price are basically the same...what about performance & reliability?

Check out the Asus P4PE. Mine has USB 2.0, onboard LAN, onboard sound, onboard firewire and works great with my 9700 Pro. The only overclock I did was to bump the FSB to 150 on my 2.53, so it it crusing at 2.85. Anyway do a seach on it and I think you will like what you see.
