I have taken my 2.4C up to 3.3ghz at default voltage, but my cpu heatsink isn't doing a good job of cooling. My current heatsink is the cooler master fujiyama silent heat pipe. Even though there has been a recent heat wave in my area, temps are still quite high. Idle temps are around 45C to 50C. Full load temps are 56C. I heard great things about the Zalman 7000Cu and 7000AlCu, should I get one of those?

I really like my quiet Zalman 7000Al-Cu...it is not as heavy or as expensive as the all copper version, mounts without removing the motherboard and has an adjustable fan that can safely be kept at low, if you do not stress your processor. Even at "normal" fan speed, it is quiet. Do a search and you will find a comparison of the Al-Cu to the Cu only. They are very similar in performance.

Why people still prefer clip on style for these modern day huge CPU HSF's is beyond me. You guys do know the board only has to come out for the initial install right?

DO those temps look high? When I touch the heatsink, its warm, not burning hot.

i agree ~ direct bolt on is the way to go.
specificly ....the Thermalright SP-94.

"re"-installation is a breeze, and i swap out more chips in a month then some of you even reboot ;)

I assume you mean the Alpha 8492? The 8045 is for AMD cpu's only. If you have the P4 Alpha, it should work, but you would need to remove the retention mechanism.

OK, I got the 7000ALCU from frys for $30 + tax. I could have gotten the 7000CU for $33 + tax at www.ewiz.com, but I heard that there is hardly any cooling difference and the 7000CU weight could be potentially dangerous somewhat. I used as ceramique as the paste. Currently at 3.3ghz @ 1.46~1.48V (actual reading), it is around 40C idle and 55C max burn. Are these good temps?

Its pretty loud though, a 92mm fan running at 2600rpm.
