Parents primarily want to stream ICDrama shows which I believe is just linking to YouTube videos. Do smart TVs nowadays have a YouTube app built in that is easily navigateable? They were talking about getting a new big screen anyway. I think the next best option is the Roku streaming stick?

They only have a kindle fire hd which I don't believe works well with Chromecast and a remote is probably easier for them anyway. They will also stream Netflix but that's about it.

For now they just hdmi-connect a laptop to the TV but they don't want to have to get up and play the next video.

Wireless mouse? That's what I use. It's not as fast as a remote, but then again it is much much faster because all those set-top box type devices are slow as molasses compared to a core-i powered notebook/desktop.

Isn't Amazon coming up with some type of Chromecast device? I remember it going in preorder sale a week or so back for $20ish. That can couple with Fire HD and solve the problem

Found it, Its called Fire stick, seems like it can do it

I guess it's a good last alternative. Depends on the answers to my questions. ;)
