Best options for 45-50" 1080p TVs under $1200?

I'm looking to replace my current 37" Westinghouse in my room for a bigger/better TV. I use it 33/33/33 for TV/Computer-Monitor/Xbox360. I don't think I like 120hz TVs. I do know that, although HD looks great, standard def on the Westy sucks, bad.

What suggestions would you have for TVs in that size and price range?

Thanks!

For reference, here is the current setup in my bedroom.

I don't have any numbers on hand anymore, but I was looking at the 46" Panasonic -80U which could be had for a grand on a good day. I believe they are coming out with their new models soon, which I read as being not only better than last years, but coming in at either the same price or cheaper. I'd look into 09 delivery dates first.

at $1200 and 46"+ and 1080p, i don't think you'll find a set that anyone here will recommend.

$1200 and 40", there's plenty including samsung 550 or sony bravia S series or a panasonic 42" plasma.
these can be had for $800-1000.

if you want 46" or larger, you'll need to spend at least $1400-1500.

Take a look at the 120hz sets with the motion crap turned off. There is a lot of misinformation out there about what 120hz is and isnt.

Also why are you looking to upgrade? Size only? Standard def is going to look worse as the screens go up in size no matter what you buy.

Looks like you are going to need some serious rearranging and furniture changes to put a 50" tv in that room
