My fathers 8400GS needs to be replaced (died) and I'm wondering which card is the best option? All he does is basic photo work, watch movies, and browse the internet. There's no gaming or encoding etc.

I'm looking at the 5450, 6450, and the GTS 210. Do all of these perform better than the 8400GS? Which one would you guys use?

Interesting. Never considered that the 8400GS may still be the best option. Obviously low end graphics isn't moving very quickly.

Any of those would be fine. The 8400GS is so slow that all of those cards are faster. The 6450 is the fastest, followed by the 5450 and finally the G210. If he's watching movies I'd go with the 5450 or 6450 (the G 210's post-processing features are really lacking), but it's not a make-or-break kind of thing.

for what he's doing, it doesn't matter

just get what's cheapest (and/or quietest if you care)

I'd go with a Radeon HD 5570 myself. It should be the same price as a 6450 now.
