Hi All,
Haven't been around in awhile but hopefully you guys are still knowledgable in the area's I've fallen off. We have a 1800 Ft house. I'm still on a 10yr old Netgear AC1750 (R6400). It's still certainly servicable but we're getting drops in a certain wing of the house, especially at night after 7pm. I've been fixing to upgrade the last couple of years and now they're all driving me crazy. What's the technology I should be looking for (minimum specs/speed, etc)? Should I go to mesh? I even tried an extender a year or so ago and don't think it's really doing anything. We have FIOS 500Gb speed. I almost bought a mesh system at Walmart that was on clearance but it was only AC1200. Does that matter if it was mesh because I could put one unit upstairs and another in the back wing where everyone is getting drops.
It was this for $65: Netgear Orbi system
Here's another cheap one. Do I have to worry about Wifi 6, or speed, or range or what? TP Link w2400 Mesh
Or am I better off just getting like the fastest thing I can afford in my price range? TP Link BE3600
Again, key is best bang for the buck that would actually be an upgrade of some sort. I'll take actual recommendations if you have some. I just chose Walmart because it's cheap.
Thanks!
