Best Optical wheel mouse?

I'm thinking about getting an optical wheel mouse to replace my current logitech wireless mouse.

I want something that is PS/2 (or has an adapter from a USB cord), and has a wheel, and I don't want wireless (batteries make it heavy).

Anybody got any recommendations? I was sort of thinking of this one: http://www.dexxaweb.com/Optical_Mouse_Pro_01.htm just because I like how it looks.

i had an intellimouse explorer which i loved... then it busted. i got a logitech mouseman optical (the blue one) which FEELS a helluva lot more solid than the ms mouse which broke. the only thing i miss about the explorer is the fifth button and the feel of the wheel. other than that i think the logitech's a better mouse. (both have ps/2 adapters included.)

I use the logitech optical mouse myself, the blue one with the tail led, VERY solid and great mouse. I bought this thing when it first hit the stores and it's been an excellent performer ever since. I'd recommend the logitech. In fact, I'd recommend Logitech every time, they tend to make better mice, hell, I'm still using the old original Mouseman+ on one of my linux rigs, the thing is about 4 years old now and it's still solid.

I like my Logitech optical Wheel Mouse, but then again I have it because I couldn't afford the Mouseman.

mouseman wheel optical, the blue led rules. none of that red orangutan behind like the microsoft.

but the logitech really uses a red led, the blue is just for looks :)

i haven't found the perfect mouse yet... the logitechs feel the best, the MS have the better wheels and drivers.

Is the Logitech Optical Mouse symetrical or is it right-handed like the MS one?

I love the Logitech... I hate the Intellimouse Explorer... I've had 2 busted ones in a row... Getting it RMA'd so I'll have one to Egay.

I have the Logitech optical mouse and I've heard that it uses the same sensor as the MS optical mouse but I'm not sure. Anyway, the mouse pointer has the jitters on smooth surfaces so I had to go back to using a fuzzy mouse pad.

I recently replaced my logitech serial bus mouse (that came with some cool DOS file management programs) which I bought in 1988 with a logitech (blue) optical mouse. Logitech mice last forever it seems. The logitech serial mouse went to my dad, who uses it happily today.

Yep, 6 months with my Logitech optical and it hasn't required a single cleaning.

Yes, it is symmetrical, unlike MS's mice.

symmetry comes as the microsoft intellimouse optical. 5 buttons total and the wheel rocks. for me i prefer over the logitech mouseman / intellimouse explorer.
I would suggest going over to the local store and test driving them before you buy. I went through 3 optical mice before i settled on this one.

Shmorq- the Logitech optical Wheel Mouse is symmetrical, while the optical MouseMan is not, and is made for right handed people.

I got the Intellimouse Optical (symmetrical) about a month after it was Buy.com's DOTD. I just kept it in my basket that long so I could get the DOTD price.
