Best online photo hosting with robust search?

I've been given the task of finding a robust photo host for hosting our office's thousands of digital photos, and oddly haven't found a decent one yet. Search is the big factor - I need something with robust EXIF support as well as folder/subfolders. Price is not an issue.

Odd how smugmug and a lot of the big names don't offer tag searching (though they display exif data).

Thanks!

Picasaweb. You know that Google is great with search and tagging.

(yes, I hear your groans)

Weirdly, now I admit to know knowing much about this, but the windows tags (which is what they seem to use here, they're not IPTC or exif) are not carried over and indexed. Also, there's a multiuser licensing issue that the straight laced folks here worry about (the TOS mentions that only one actual user can access paid accounts)

EDIT: Did more digging. The "windows" tags are in fact IPTC tags. Picasa lists these as "Keywords" and not tags, and the search searches by tags (and ignores keywords).. It's very weird, flickr works in the same way. I only found one service so far that can search by iptc tags (photodeck) and that's more photography focused (for wedding photographers to show off their work) than image archival oriented.

Maybe you could do a custom solution. WordPress + this plugin would probably do the trick.

I thought of it and even had a demo up with gallery2 and piwigo - the problem is that, if it breaks (which it may - I'm not an I.T. guy, it's a hobby.. my job is more editorial but they asked me because . well.. i don't know why!) they WILL blame me... I'd rather do a hosted solution because I like my job 🙂
