It depends if you're in it for price, tools online, etc., but Schwab overall is probably the best.

Check out www.gomez.com for a rundown of the top online brokers for various categories.

I started with Datek a while ago and they recently switched to AmeriTrade. When it was Datek there was a $15 fee for every 6 months with less than 4 trades measured on a rolling basis.

I think I've only made two trades since it switched hands about six months ago and I haven't been charged an inactivity fee yet.

What info are you looking to know? It is easy to navigate around the site using the drop down menus. Provides decent research info, although nasdaq.com seems to be just good. Has a real time stock streamer as well as providing real time info on the posted asks and bids. I think its $10 a trade. I don't know what the minimums are to open right now or have a margin account.

I've been happy with it, but I'm not really into investing either.
