it's not a hot deal, but good advice: sit in the chair that you intend on buying (if at B&M) first...granted, for $200, you're not going to get a premium leather (despite what the tag says), but it should buy you a nice chair nonetheless.

Poopy!!

Sorry about that!

It's a Leather Super Stuffed Executive Chair that I bought at Office Max. It's on sale right now, with a $50 rebate, for $99.98 (reg. price $149.98).

I think it really depends on how long you plan on sitting in that chair each day. I think the most comfortable ones under $200 will lose their comfort (like mine) if you sit in them for more than 4 hours a day. If you plan on sitting in that chair for more than 4 hours a day, make sure that the chair you get is meant for long periods of usage.

for 200 you could customize one... since we customize computers why not the furniture we use for them

buy a cheap comfortable computer chair or use old good condition chair
buy some plush leather and some cotton or other soft stuff
borrow a staple gun
get some thread (thick and match color)
phat needle
borrow an airbrush
draw or choose a logo to paint on your chair
use the internet to get some patterns for sewing the leather with cotton onto the chair
You could get a chair massager thing and sew it underneathe the plush leather or add some speakers for some phat sounds
you could add a cup holder
shower curtains for privacy if you need it... and you geeks do need it
built in ottoman like a dentist chair

I challenge someone to do this and post the pic

The one I have is only $99 and it was the most comfortable chair in OfficeMax, I spent over an hour sitting in each one.

Here is the info for the chair on OfficeMax.com:

Item # 20082287 , Style # 891-6126

Link (<-- May not work)

Easy. Dont limit yourself to $200.

Make your budget $240 each and grab some printable staples $40 off of $200's.

Simple. :p

I thought I saw some nice chairs at Best Buy. I stay away from these chairs at Office Depot thats available in 36 or whatever different fabric colors. These chairs are expensive because of these customizeable options and such.

My 2 coworkers and I just went to Bestbuy last week to buy 3 new chairs... had a $200 budget as well.
We each got this chair.

I tried to talk them in to letting me buy a Hon Pillowsoft like the one I'm sitting in right now... but they wouldn't let me. $100 over budget. :(

hey, i thought it would have been assumed. $240 - $40 is still $200, should i have said "our limit is $200 anywhere else but staples where it's $240?" no, our limit is $200 net, after whatever coupons/pms/mirs we can apply. we're not looking to pay retail! :p

Cheap chairs are cheap. Basically all I ever buy, because whenever I end up needing a chair I can't bring myself to spend $1000 on it, even though I probably us my office chair more than any other thing I've bought (except the house it is in).

Staples sells a chair insurance policy for $20 or so, basically you buy one of their cheap Chinese chairs and then when it starts to hurt your back, or the seating has no cushion left, they just give you your original purchase price back and you get another one. The ultimate disposable chair plan.

Really? Necroing a post from 2002? If he doesn't have a chair by now, I'd wager there are bigger problems.

Check for auctions of businesses and pick up premium chairs cheap. Except for Aerons, even used those are more than $200 each.

My cheapest, bought a pallet of broken chairs for $25, got 4 good office chairs and a lab stool (tall for working at a bench) plus a few good spare parts.
