I like all the well-known ones but I must say I love putting AJFA on repeat. That's 9 minutes of good stuff while driving.

And most of you missed Creeping Death.

Most, but not all.

Creeping Death and Seek and Destroy are my two favorite songs when I see them in concert 🙂

How can you even attempt to make a best of without "One"??????!!!!!

My 2 favorite Metallica songs are Pastor of Muppets and Of Wolf and Man. 🙂

Surprised only one other person has mentioned "Whiplash". When I hear that song I just feel like breaking sh|t.

Heh. For me it usually results in wreckelessly dangerous speeds on the freeway. D'oh!

Hehe... Harverster of Sorrow is a great song. I never read the track name and I thought the song was titled "Officer of Sorrow"

😱 Which is cooler in my opinion 😕

LOL!

I had some friends that thought that "Sad But True" was "Sex Patrol" the first couple times they heard it.

Oh I forgot Holier Than Thou... gets me all charged up just like Disposable Heroes (which I named my hockey team) intro.

Hah I remember when I heard Sandman... "keep you free from sin" was "keep your free throws in" for me. LOL.

It's actually the name of a font that is modeled after the Metallica logo. 🙂

To each his own, but it's funny you mention heavy and deep because And Justice For All is one of the angriest metal albums ever written in my opinion. Right after the loss of Cliff Burton, problems with the band, and finally, the release of all that stress: "And Justice for All.' To me it's a more powerful album

Justice was an album with anger... but misplaced. Their whole thought process was nihilistic. They really didn't care about anything. Justice had absolutely NO BASS line in any song. I mean tell me how Damage Inc was less "angry" than shortest straw?
IIRC, that's because as an act of hazing, they unplugged Newsted's bass for the entire recording process.

My list:
Seek & Destroy
All of Ride the Lightning
All of Master of Puppets
One
Enter Sandman
Unforgiven
Wherever I May Roam (this song was way too simplified, could have been one of their best ever)
King Nothing
Fuel

I thought for sure I was the only one around here who knew about that! 😉 I don't suppose you've actually used it in your work? 😀

Metallica was always one of those bands I associated with teenage angst - you know, "life sucks", "everyone is in pain except me", "depression is fun!", that sort of thing. The guys really just need a prozac and some counseling.

Oh, yes, "Fade to Black", "Battery", "Nothing Else Matters"

Here here!

Low Man's Lyric is pretty high up on my list too.

And at 40+, Jaymz is still genuinely spitting out those kind of lyrics in St. Anger.

Problem is that St. Anger sucks.

Which indicates to me that he really needs some psychological help.

agreed. who the hell produced that thing?

Personally not a huge fan of the speed metal of Kill em all, but liked everything else from the 80s, plus the black album, and a select few songs from the Loads.

Don't really like St. Anger. Music doesn't feel crafted anymore, if you know what I mean.

It isn't. That honor goes to St. Anger.

i said "one of the worst"... not "the worst"

you even quoted it

they're both pretty damn awful
