Best Nvidia base card overclocking tool

What's the best nvidia base graphic card overclocking tool? I have a GF4 Ti4200 & would like to try overclocking it.

Well, purely for overclocking, you could use the 'coolbits' hack unless nvidia have killed off that little avenue of fun.
Otherwise I'd recommend RivaTuner obtainable from Guru3D.

Wait, nVidia is releasing "Forceware 2.0" soon, and they promise a "20 per cent" increase in performance, and an official overclocking tool. Or so they claim. But i'd say coolbits if you're desperate.

Sorry for bringin this thread up again for some newbis questions, please try to understand if they sound silly to you experts

1. I've seen people posting pair numbers like 300/567, 250/600, what do they mean and how can I see or test mine?
2. I've just built a new system, Barton 2500+ OC@3200, 1G Kingston PC2700, PNY ti4200 64Mb. I just ran 3DMark01 SE, my score was 10923. Is it low, and what's a good number I should be looking at?
3. I also read and researched about Coolbits and Krusty. If I were to OC my ti4200, are those 2 the only recommended tools, are there others? What is my limitation, like do I need better set of RAMs or better cooling? FYI, I have Vantec Spectrum installed below the v-card.
4. Please tell me of any additional issues, info or advice that I need to know about my card or the overclocking process.

I'd really appreaciate everything -TIA-

you know.. that's an awful lot.. did you do any research at all on this subject?

you should get a bit better understanding of the whole process, then ask for specific help, rather than having someone here do it all for you. try searching google. one such article you will find there is

which will not only answer your questions, but give you an understanding of how and why. if you have trouble with specific concepts, come back here and ask; there are many knowledgable people here that are more than willing to help i'm sure, but do some of the legwork yourself, not only to save the ppl here time, but also so you know what to ask

Nvidia drivers now have the overclockability built in but disabled as default. You have to go into the registry and add a DWORD "Coolbits" and then set the value to 3. This will enable the "sliders" in your usual nvidia properties box to allow you to change the frequencies the core and memory run at.

The value you have to add in the registry is under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak

In there, right-click inside the right pane, and choose New>DWORD value

Name the value "Coolbits" (without the quotes). Right click on Coolbits, and choose Modify. Change the Value data to "3" i left it as hex and it worked fine but i think they meant decimal value.

It is recommended that you reboot before trying to use it after exiting regedit but it worked without rebooting on mine. (I just did this so let me know if you have any questions)

haha that was funny....sorry I bumped this thread from yesteryear because I was searching for how to oveclock my geforce 4200 for far cry. So when i finally found out how to do it I posted in this thread only to find out it was an old thread. Anyway my post up there might help someone trying to overclock their nvidia card like I was.

it worked btw I overclocked it pretty good I went from 250/513 to 290/570 and far cry seems a bit smoother
