Hopefully be Thursday or Friday I can have a Surface 2 vs Venue 11 Pro smack down and see which I like more and which I'm voting off the island. Though I'm probably an idiot for spending $600+ on either of these with the new 4GB Baytrails probably coming out in a month, haha.

Hey, not too bad. the HP elitepad 1000 is up for order on the HP Business website. It has 4GB, 64-bit windows and Atom 3795. Ship date is April 8. Just $739. The keyboard sleeve is another $249!

Maybe the non-business targeted 4GB tablets will be a tad cheaper.

Might not be that bad. From what i read about the new baytrails the only change is the extra RAM, there is no significant performance improvements. Programs running on 64-bit windows also uses more memory (since storing a memory location now uses 64-bit instead of 32-bit), so 4gb is not a big improvement for all applications (though for many it will be, but i am trying to make you feel better about your purchase ;)

I look forward to hearing the result of the smack down.

I know it seems crazy to pick the Surface 2. It can't run x86 apps and there are lots of similarly priced options (and a few cheaper) that can. But it feels like a high quality device without any corner cutting.

I have kind of given up on RT. I previously thought x86 windows would always require a power hungy CPU, but the bay trails really changed my mind, and now i don't really see a need for Windows RT.

I was looking at that as well, it looks pretty good (4gb + 1920x1200 is definitely what i want), though i could be a bit lighter (its 100g heavier than the Lenovo).

Have they announced a non-business version?

It also doesn't have a 16:10 screen (its 16:9), but i could live with that.

I did look at it, but i figured with 780g one might as well go to 900g and the Surface Pro 2, but looking again, i can see that they actually offer it with an i5 without increasing the weight. That kind of makes me a bit interested in it again, though i would be interested in its battery life.

The Core version is actually thicker and heavier. I don't know how much because Dell is trying the darndest to hide it(probably advertising the device as Core i5 performance but with Atom Tablet weight).

The battery is 37WHr on the Core version, which should mean 5-7 hours. That's also why its heavier, other than the beefier HSF combo it likely needs on the Core version.

Really tried hard myself to find a very light(2.5lbs or less), Core i5 based 2-in-1(but not a detachable) with a digitizer and at least 8 hours of battery life. No such luck.

Not to my knowledge. There is another model with 4GB,Propad 600 http://www8.hp.com/us/en/ads/new-style-it/propad-600.html, but that has not been released yet for order, I suspect it won't be much cheaper. Seems like a slightly upgraded Omni. Also no keyboard option.

I don't get why HP isn't making keyboard docks for these tablets (keyboard sleeve doesn't sound like a real solution).

I don't get that either. I particular like keyboard docks with an included battery (the dock has to have some weight to counter-balance the tablet anyway).

I have the Dell Venue 11 Pro that I'm getting setup now. Unfortunately I'm having to work through a lot of software issues with this. Really disappointed with Dell at the moment, especially with their support.dell.com website not working properly either (can't enter a service tag to find drivers from any computer).

The pen is acting erratically (more so than normal, it works better on my DV8P) and the buttons aren't working right.
Touch sensitivity seems poor and I can't install the Touch Panel Firmware update, because it says it can't find the touch panel controller.
I'm getting hideous performance issues.
Kinda blows there is no app for checking for and installing driver updates.

Out of the box this particular DV11P is a POS.

Edit: This thing is so f***ed up I'm just going to do a full recovery. It'll take a few hours (according to it). Think I'm starting to remember the complaints I heard that scared me off from this product last year. It's very quirky.

Just FYI, after reading that the Acer Aspire SW5 is likely to feature a low-res display, i decided i didn't want to wait any more and went for the Lenovo Miix 10 2, hopefully i will be getting it next week.

It fits my usage case nicely (tablet first, with the ability to do a little ultrabook stuff). I would have liked Z3770 or better, 4gb, more battery and adjustable angle (but i really like how easy it looks to plugin to the dock), but decently priced here in Denmark (slightly cheaper than say Samsung Galaxy tab pro 10 32gb).

The Fujitsu Q584 would probably have been better, but its a little heavier and costs a lot more and provides features i don't need (stylus, fingerprint reader etc). Id rather just replace the Miix 2 10 earlier :)

The Elitepad 1000 falls into the same category, a bit heavier and expensive with a dock, and i am not overly fond of its keyboard dock.

The Omni 10 has a better CPU, but is heavier and doesn't appear to have a good keyboard dock (its battery life is also reported as pretty bad from one review i read).

The T100 was out because i couldn't live with the low resolution ( 25% of the pixels on my old Nexus 10, no way :) The extra battery would have been great though.

The upcoming Thinkpad 10 sounds great, but is apparently a competitor to Q584 and will be priced accordingly and who knows when it will show up :)
