Best noise-canceling, comfortable, big-head friendly headset < $100

Hello,

Can anyone recommend a comfortable, noise-canceling, big-head friendly headset for less than $100.

I will be using it for most of the day to listen too much while programming. It needs to be noise-canceling because the AC unit is right above my office. Comfort is most important to me.

Suggestions?

Can a friendly mod kick this over to Audio/Video & Home Theater. Maybe I'll get some more action over there.

Thanks!

Hey Bulldog, I'll try to help... the Teufel AC 9050 headphones get a good review here, winning an award. While they aren't noise cancelling, it does say that "while there's no noise-cancelling technology built-in, the snug fit does a fair job of eliminating background sounds." And definitely good value for money.

The problem with the good noise cancelling ones is that they can be quite expensive (ludicrously so, in some cases).

Maybe have a look at the Sennheiser PXC 300, supposed to be very comfy, and noise cancelling, but $150.... Review here (though while the reviewer says they're comfortable, one of the comments underneath disagrees... sigh...)

OP,

Have you ever tried the Bose noise-cancelling headphones advertised on TV? If so you probrbly found them to be very effective at blocking out most extraneous sound. The headphones sound good ... but at a cost of WAY over your budget. Since I too did not want to spend more than $100, I bought a pair of ABle Planet NC headphones off Woot. They ARE NOT as effective as the Bose ... but I got them for about $65. For that price they work great.

Recommend you look around and try a pair (I think CrapUSA sells them). If you like them then recommend you keep your sights on Woot. They were sold for as little as $50 the last time they sold them (about a month ago).

Take a look at the pictures near the bottom of this link:

Good luck ...

They don't seem to be available in the US.. didn't realise that. I would have thought you could have got Teufel to ship them for not too much extra, but it seems like they only ship within the EU :-/

Maybe check out Dud's recommendation!
